A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

We are currently carrying out finishing works for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 9pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.

For this week, the planned closures are:

Full closures
Saturday 6 8am to 5pm
• B1514 Brampton Road between Scholars Avenue and Edison Bell Way
Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, St Peters Road to A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514.
Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

Saturday 6 (one night)
• A1 northbound Brampton Hut exit slip
Vehicles will be diverted to continue north on the A1 to Alconbury, exit and return on the A1 southbound for access to Brampton Hut roundabout and the A141
• A1 northbound between Buckden roundabout and the A14/A1 Brampton Interchange
Vehicles will be diverted east on the A428 at Wyboston, north on the A1198 to join the A14 westbound at Godmanchester junction 23. From here traffic can then exit the A14 at Brampton Interchange junction 22 to access the A1 or can continue their journey on the A14.

Monday 16 to Wednesday 18 (three nights) 8pm to 6am
• Boxworth Road, Boxworth between Cambridge Services roundabout and the entrance to the borrow pit
Vehicles will be diverted via the A1307, A1198, B1040 and Rogues Lane

Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 8am to 5pm
• B1514 Brampton Road between Scholars Avenue and Edison Bell Way
Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, St Peters Road to A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514.

Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

Pedestrian access will be maintained via the footpath.

Monday 9 to Thursday 12 (four nights) 9pm to 6am
• A14 westbound between Nine Mile Hill junction 36 and Girton junction 31

Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11 to re-join the A14 at Girton. Non motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge

Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 (three nights) 8pm to 6am

Vehicles will be diverted via the A1307, A1198, B1040 and Rogues Lane

Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, St Peters Road to A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514.

Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.

Pedestrian access will be maintained via the footpath. Access to the Station western car park will also be maintained.

There are no planned closures for w/c 11 April in relation to the A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme.

 As a reminder, B1514 Brampton Road between Scholars Avenue and Edison Bell Way will be closed this Saturday 9th and Sunday 10^th from 8am to 5pm.

 Pedestrian & cyclist access will remain via the footpath.

• A1(M) southbound between junction 14 and A1 Alconbury southbound entry slip
Vehicles will be diverted onto the A1307(M) to Spittals roundabout and then west on the A141 to re-join the A1 at Brampton Hut or to continue west onto the A14

• A1307 eastbound between Spittals exit slip and Spittals entry slip (up and over)
Vehicles will be diverted via Spittals roundabout

The closure of #B1514 Brampton Road on Saturday 26 has been CANCELLED.

 This has been replaced with a closure of the Huntingdon train station West car park (the car park on Brampton Road that leads to Platform 3) from Saturday 26 12:01am to Sunday 27 5pm. If you’re travelling to Huntingdon station this weekend, please allow additional time to get to the East car park, accessed via the A1307.
