News from Fenstanton Village Hall committee

We very much regretted having to cancel the Pancake Races event last month but the weather running up to the day had made the ground at the Headlands Play Area so waterlogged that no-one could have run safely. It was also bitterly cold on the day itself.

It now looks as if the Environment Agency is not going to allow us to build a Village Hall with sporting facilities on the Hall Green land because it is in the flood plain and there is concern about the flow of water when water levels are high. We have not given up, however, while we still have one or two alternative ideas to pursue.

Meanwhile our fund-raising ventures continue: you can still purchase Village Hall/Pre-School cookbooks from the Post Office, Fenstanton Family Butchers and Ron’s Farm Shop and do come along to one of the monthly Quiz Nights at The George run with great aplomb by Dai Heafield, future dates being 7th April, 5th May, 2nd and 30th June.

Dates for your diary: The Cycle Treasure Hunt will take place on Sunday, 16th May, with three different routes – two mile, five mile and fifteen mile – followed by a barbecue in the garden of The George. If you enjoyed the Cycle Treasure Hunt last year, spread the word to all your friends and have another great day out this year. Then, in conjunction with the Church Appeal committee, we are holding a Barn Dance on Saturday, 10th July, at Hall Green barn – another fun event for all ages.
