CLERK MOURNED

FENSTANTON is mourning the sudden death of the village’s ebullient parish council clerk, Jackie Denston, on December 17 at the age of 44.

Paramedics were called to her home in Rookery Place but were unable to revive her, said the council’s chairman, Councillor Colin White.

She was very well-known in the village and much liked in the community, which she served very well as clerk,” he said. “Her death was a huge shock to us all, and our sympathy is with all her family.”

The Rev Dr Maggie Guite, Vicar of Fenstanton and Hilton, added: “Everybody was shocked at this sudden loss.

“I worked with her in relation to the churchyard and cemetery, and I was aware that, with her sympathetic and practical attitude, she was a great comfort to bereaved people. “She was also a very good humoured person with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the village.”
