Big Breakfast 2007

On Saturday 9th June 2007 7.30am –11.30am the 1st Fenstanton & Hilton Scout Group will be cooking up their annual Big Breakfast. As usual we will be at the Clock Tower in Fenstanton. Our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts will be there cooking, serving and clearing up as usual.

So bring friends and family to dine “al-fresco” for breakfast – leaving us to do the washing up and helping us raise money needed for new tents. Don’t fancy a delicious fry up or a bacon buttie? Then please come along see what else we have on offer – including some delicious cakes.

The money raised will be used for general Group costs to keep the fun happening for over 80 local youngsters each week.

Bag Packing

On Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June 2007 the 1st Fenstanton & Hilton Scout Troop will be packing bags in the hope they do a good enough job to earn some donations. Hours are yet to be confirmed but likely to be around 10.30am to 4.00pm. So if you need some shopping that weekend and head to Morrisons please think about using their services 

The money raised will be put to the same good use as that raised from the car wash (see below).

Car Wash

A big thank you to all those who came along to support the Scouts on the 5th May. We raised a staggering £350 on the day, all of which we can claim Gift Aid on from the tax man in our next claim which will add nearly a further £100 in due course. A big thank you to Alan and the team at Wilderspin’s Garage in Fen Drayton for being such accommodating hosts, and for the generous donation they then gave us to add to the £350.

The money that was raised will be used in part for much needed new tents (which cost £100 each) and also towards the cost of the fantastic Norway Expedition for 10 days in July.

Are you good with your hands???

This summer our current Quartermaster is stepping down after several years of dedicated work (thanks Dave!) so we urgently need to find a volunteer to take over. This role basically means looking after our kit etc, carrying out and arranging repairs or purchases as required as well as keeping an up to date inventory.

It’s a non-uniformed role and you don’t need to attend any of the regular Sections meetings or camps, unless you’d like to of course  It’s helpful if you are able to ferry kit around locally for some of our events and camps, although not essential.

So if you could spare literally an average of just a couple of hours a month (can be done daytime, evenings or weekends to suit) we’d really love to hear from you soon.
