Special thanks - from the Save The Lakes campaign organiser.

Posted: 13/11/2006

A donation of £2000 has been made to the wildlife trust by Save the Lakes which is the last of funds raised during our campaign. It had been hoped to put a permanent structure of some sort on the lakes, but as it has not yet been bought by the RSPB a bench is to be installed instead in Overhall Grove Nature reserve in the nearby village of Knapwell. A walk is to be published in the next issue of the meridian that includes this reserve so hopefully Swavesey residents will now be able to sit down and enjoy the oxslips and bluebells in springtime. The bulk of the £2000 will be used by the wildlife trust specifically towards their continuing negotiation over ecological issues surrounding the Guided Busway, in particular concerns around the lakes area, some of which we have passed onto them from our own case.

I would like to thank all those residents who gave time or money to help our fund and all those who bought the walks book which was a major contributor.

Yours sincerely
Caroline Wilson
