Planned road closures w/c 30 March - A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme

A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire: major improvements

Construction work on the new A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon scheme is underway. We are currently carrying out a variety of tasks for which we need to close lanes or carriageways on the A1, A14 and some local roads at times, usually overnight between 8pm and 6am, unless otherwise stated. A clearly signed diversion route will always be in place for closures.

For this week, the planned closures are:


FULL CLOSURES

PLEASE NOTE – ALL CLOSURES (UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE) WILL START AT 8PM UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE


Monday 30 March to Sunday 5 April (seven nights)

• M11 northbound junction 13 to A14 westbound Bar Hill junction 25
Vehicles will be diverted west onto A1303 to continue onto A428 westbound, B1040 northbound at Eltisley, A1198 northbound and either join the A14 at junction 23 for through traffic or continue north to join A1307 for local traffic.
Monday 30 March to Friday 3 April (five nights)
• A1 northbound Brampton Hut exit slip
Vehicles will be diverted north to Alconbury to then use A1 southbound and either continue or exit for access to Brampton Hut roundabout
• A1 northbound Brampton Hut entry slip
Vehicles will be diverted east along A141 and then north at Spittals roundabout to the spur road to re-join the A1 northbound at Alconbury
• A141 eastbound link between New Ellington junction 21 and Brampton Hut roundabout
Vehicles will be diverted east on the A605 at junction 13 then south on the A1(M) to the A605 to re-join the A14 at junction 21




Monday 30 March to Thursday 2 April (four nights)

• Local road between B1050 Hattons Road and Oakington roundabout
Vehicles leaving Cambridge wishing to access Bar Hill and Longstanton will be diverted onto A1303 to continue onto A428 westbound, A1198 northbound to
A1307 and continue east on A14 to Bar Hill junction 25. Oakington and Dry Drayton residents can use A1307 Huntingdon Road and local road.
Vehicles wishing to exit the A14 eastbound for Oakington and Dry Drayton will need to stay on the A14 and exit onto A1307 Huntingdon Road, to return west on the local road, past the Crematorium
• A428 eastbound Madingley to A14 eastbound Fen Ditton junction 34
Motorway traffic will travel south on the M11, east on A505 and north on A11 to re-join the A14. Non motorway traffic will be diverted on local roads through Cambridge.
• M11 junction 14 exit slip
• A14 westbound between Six Mile Bottom junction 36 and Girton junction 31
Motorway traffic will travel south on the A11, west on the A505 and then north on the M11.
Non motorway traffic will diverted on local roads through Cambridge




Friday 3 8pm to Monday 5 April 6am

• A14 eastbound Godmanchester/A1198 junction 23 to Girton junction 31
Vehicles on the A14 will be diverted south on A1198 at junction 23 and then east on A428 to re-join the A14. Please follow signs on A428 for access to M11.
Vehicles on the A1307 will be diverted south on A1198 at Godmanchester and will pick up the same diversion listed above.
• A1307 Huntingdon Road outbound
Vehicles will be diverted onto Histon Road to Histon junction 32 for access to A14 westbound
• A14 eastbound Milton junction 33 exit slip
Vehicles will be diverted to continue east on A14 to Stow cum Quy junction 35 and return on westbound carriageway
Vehicles will be diverted via the exit slip and re-join the A14 via the entry slip




Saturday 4 (one night) 9pm – 8am
• Brampton Road B1514 between station car park and Edison Bell Way
Vehicles on the Huntingdon town centre side will be diverted onto the ring road, Ermine Street B1044 to Spittals roundabout, A141 west to Brampton / Brampton Racecourse junction and into Brampton via B1514. Vehicles on the Brampton side of the closure will follow this diversion in reverse.




Sunday 5 (one night) TBC

• B1050 Hattons Road between local road and Bar Hill village roundabout
