CLOSURE OF HIGH STREET 29 Jul - 9 Aug 2019

Low Road, Fenstanton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF SOUTHBOUND THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2019/542

Is to stop any vehicle from proceeding southbound along Low Road, Fenstanton as lies between 1A Low Road, St Ives and A1096.

The alternative route for vehicles is via A1096 - A14 and vice versa.


The proposed Order is necessary to facilitate gas replacement works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 26 August 2019 and continue until these works have finished or on the 25 February 2021 whichever is the earlier.

It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 26 August 2019 8 September 2019.

High Street, Fenstanton (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2019/448


NOTICE is given that Cambridgeshire County Council has made an Order pursuant to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which is to stop any vehicle from proceeding along High Street, Fenstanton as lies between numbers 2 and 14.

Access will be maintained to properties affected by this order.

The alternative route for vehicles is: westbound via Huntingdon Road - A1096 - B1040 - Rogues Lane, Hilton - Rogues Lane, Elsworth - Smith Street - Boxworth Road - Elsworth Road, Boxworth - High Street - Boxworth End - Boxworth End, Swavesey - A14 - Conington Road and eastbound via Cambridge Road - A14 – Boxworth End, Swavesey – Boxworth End, Boxworth – High Street – Elsworth Road – Boxworth Road, Elsworth – Smith Street – Rogues Lane – Rogues Lane, Hilton – B1040 – A1096 – Low Road, Fenstanton – Huntingdon Road.

[ Editor's Note: This 18.2 mile diversion is a nonsense - the A14 is the easiest alternative unless blocked or closed]

The Order is made to facilitate sewer connection and associated works which are being carried out on or near this highway and it will come into operation on 29 July 2019 and continue until these works have finished or on the 28 January 2021 whichever is the earlier.

It is anticipated that these works will be carried out between 29 July and 9 August 2019.

The Order shall not apply to any persons lawfully engaged in connection with any works for which it is made, any member of the Police Force, Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance Service, a vehicle being used by Special Forces during the execution of their duties or to any person acting with the permission or upon the direction of a Police Officer in uniform.
