UPDATE FROM FENSTANTON PARISH COUNCIL January 2018

Posted: 24/01/2018

(Full Council meeting took place 11 11.1.2018

** VILLAGE MEETING**
The Parish Council would like to arrange a village meeting to which representatives from CCC, HDC, the local police, development companies with a presence in the village, transport companies and others as felt appropriate would be invited to present updates for parishioners and give residents an opportunity to voice any concerns or ask any questions they may have. It would be very useful if residents could get in touch with the Clerk (details below) to with a note of their THREE MAIN CONCERNS so we can ensure all the relevant topics are covered. More information will be circulated later in the year but we look forward to welcoming as many of you as can hopefully attend.

Vacancies on the Parish Council
Following recent resignations from the Parish Council we do have vacancies and would be very pleased to hear from anyone who would like to volunteer as a Councillor and help to make a difference in the community. Please contact the Clerk in the first instance. Parish Council elections take place in May of this year.

Police Sergeant Andrew Street attended the meeting and reported that crime in Fenstanton had ped and remained at a lower level throughout last year. He had organised a patrol of Chequer Street following complaints of noisy drivers and written to vehicle owners. A full report is available from the clerk and can be found on the Parish Council website.

Parishioners are reminded to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to the police T 101
Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 55 51 11 or in an emergency 999.

Inconsiderate Parking and Driving
These issues were discussed with Sergeant Street who welcomed reports on these. Parishioners are asked to contact the Clerk with concerns she will collate and liaise with Sergeant Street.

Budget and Precept 2018 - 2019
The Parish Council adopted the budget for 2018-2019 and agreed on the application for a 4% increase in the precept request for the same period. Full minutes are available from the clerk and can be found on the Parish Council website.

Chequer Street car park faulty lights
Please note that work will be undertaken on this shortly.

Pathway safety – fallen leaves
Fallen leaves on pavements are becoming very slippery and can be a hazard for all. We would make a polite request to residents near any problem areas to help alleviate the problem by sweeping the paths outside their homes. This is in addition of course to the Clerk reporting issues and liaising with any maintenance teams.

Conington Road
Some remedial work has been done to improve the condition of Conington Road but more work is required towards Pear Tree Close. Highways England has assured the Parish Council this would be done in due course.

Chequer Street Green
We have heard concerns from residents about the erosion of the edges of this green – this is being discussed at the General Purposes Committee meeting on 25 January (all villages welcome) to establish remedial treatment.
