CB300 Fen Drayton Summer Festival

Posted: 31/05/2016

Come and help us celebrate the 300th anniversary of Lancelot Brown and the Year of the English Garden!

Two linked events will be taking place on the afternoon of Saturday 25th June at Bannold’s, Fen Drayton.

Come and join us! Tickets for both events are available from Alison Fox (email) or Judith Christie (email).

The 2.30pm event is FREE and includes a Georgian-themed CapabiliTEA in celebration of the Capability Brown Tercentenary. If you would be prepared to bake for this event, we would welcome your contribution. Please consider some of the recipes from the Capability Brown website, available to download from here and let Alison Fox or Judith Christie know.

As well as a range of readings read by local children and book groups we are excited to showcase two works by the Fenland Poet Laureate Jonathan Totman. For more information about Jonathan go to: http://www.jonathantotman.co.uk

The 4.30pm event has £8 entry and includes refreshments. We are very pleased to welcome the writer and broadcaster Twigs Way to entertain us with a talk, “Amours in the Arbour: Murder in the Icehouse,” a light-hearted romp around gardens and their literary and social history. For more information about Twigs go to: http://www.twigsway.com

On Sunday 26th our summer festivities continue with the display at Bannold’s of a new garden to celebrate Capability Brown designed by the children of Fen Drayton.

At St Mary’s, Fen Drayton, there will be an exhibition of paintings and arts & crafts.

Also on show will be photographs entered for a local CB300 competition on the theme of Gardens and Designed Landscapes, with valuable prizes. Contact Phil Christie for entry forms: deadline for entries, 17 June 2016.

We hope to see you there. For further details please contact Judith or Alison.
